Reminds me a lot of Robert Harvey. Cool, calm, strong core, good decision making, hard at it, has the ability to make those around him better, natural leader.

Where are you Fly? I know you're online now. Feeding time

I sent him a PM, he'll come in here guns blazing soon enough.

Hmm.. i can count the "stars" in the AFL on one hand i think.

I think Jobe is aggressively improving his game. From an outside perspective, it looks like he has recognised his weaknesses (lack of speed, unreliable kicking) and worked on his strengths, such as:
- Contested Possessions
- Clearances
- Tackling
- Play making

His ability to get in and under for the hard-ball-get is statistically right up there with the elite. He's hard running, reads the play well, makes reasonably good decisions and plays with a lot of courage and heart.
He'll probably end up a captain at the club one day, if he keeps on his current work ethic.

Honestly, I don't care that much, but I dislike exchanging pm's even more.

Jobe is not Harvey like in the slightest. Period.

The initial correlation of him in the same vein as Hayes is more apt as they are a similar type players, but he is not, nor will be, held in the same esteem as Banger outside of Essendon supporters who, quite frankly, are deluding themselves if they hold that opinion.

Now hopefully everyone can shut up.

That was the point.

It's an Essendon supporter commenting on a now past St Kilda player, their opinion counts for absolute dick as far as I am concerned.

I appreciate your open mindedness.

Not once did I say that Jobe is as good as or would ever be as good as someone the caliber as Bangers, but I think there are similarities in the way they went/go about the game along with their strengths and weaknesses.

All fact. :)

He did nothing, last week was my own doing and I'd do it again in a heartbeat to 90% people people on here. There is just little point in debating something merely because you all want it to happen when the original post was more talking up Jobe than it was anything sinister.

Star. He has one of the best handballs in the game and averaging just under 30 possessions a game. If he improves his kicking he can be up there with the Ablett's, Judd's and Hayes'

He has to do it and do it regularly to be a star. He is too spasmodic, and his kicking still isn't where it could be.

Will be an okay player, has the capabilities of being a star, but certainly isn't one just yet.

Jobe Watson already is a star of the competition.
Just not recognised as such, purely because 'people' still think his kicking is as ---- as it was a couple of years ago, he doesn't have the blinding speed to go on a cutting run and bounce and doesn't 'kick enough goals'.
But his inside clearance work is absolutely ---- elite. The way he can read the play is up with the best I've seen. Seriously, the way he can get his body in position and be in the right spot at the right time is Hird like. If Jobe can keep up this form in the years to come, eh, I think the 'modern equivalent' would be Hayes. Shockingly underrated, but a superstar of the competition - and Jobe can be better, especially as his kicking is improving all the time (just his brain fades get noticed more).

At the moment he's pretty much flying solo as far as the tough inside midfield work goes. As the team 'grows up' and matures around him + he gets some experienced support around, it's going to make him look even better.

*sigh* if only he was a few steps quicker... meh, we've got enough speed 8-)

except against blues. dons, be prepared for 6-7.

I think after watching the game against collingwood i can safely say jobe is a very important player to essendon. They got smashed at the stoppages something that jobe is a specialist at. While he may not be the most skillful and athletic player his in and under work around the stoppages is very very important and that is what makes him a good player.
